The Floodlight Foundation, in collaboration with the Royal Society of Sculptors, invites selected artists to create a site-specific, monumental work using found objects and materials. The resulting artwork will become a permanent installation in the grounds of the historic Laxmi Narayan Temple in Modinagar, engaging with the site’s architecture, community and living traditions.
Spread across 20 acres, the Temple, popularly known as Modi Mandir, is a cultural landmark and spiritual sanctuary in Modinagar, National Capital Region. Built in 1963 by industrialist and philanthropist Rai Bahadur G.M. Modi and his wife, Dayawati Modi, it stands as an enduring part of the region’s heritage.
Located at Modi Bhawan, the residency offers artists an opportunity to work within this distinctive setting. The India Art Fair, taking place from 4–7 February 2027, is also a short metro ride away.
Bringing contemporary sculpture into dialogue with the temple’s sacred architecture and Modinagar’s living cultural traditions, the residency will culminate in a permanent artwork installed within the temple grounds.
